Request for Proposals (RFP)
Replacement of Five (5) Exterior Doors at the Luther Area Public Library In Luther, Michigan
RFP Due Date/Public Opening: Sealed proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. on August 13, 2025. Proposals must be hand delivered or delivered by US Mail or another delivery service. Sealed proposals should be delivered or sent to The Luther Area Public Library; 115 N. State St; Luther, MI 49656. Proposals will be opened on August 14, 2025 at the Luther Library Board Meeting that will be held at the Luther Area Public Library; the meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. Mailed or delivered envelopes containing proposals should be marked Library Door Proposal on the outside of the envelope.
Scope of Work: The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment required to remove and replace the doors, frames, and hardware at the Luther Area Public Library; this includes the purchase of the doors according to the specifications listed elsewhere in this solicitation. The contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all the necessary door dimensions needed for the door replacements prior to purchasing any doors. The contractor must be licensed and have both liability and workers’ compensation insurance and provide copies of certificates of insurance for each of these insurance coverages. The contractor should plan on saving the west door and frame for use in another building.
NOTE: The front entrance door is non-ADA compliant because it opens in. When determining the outswing, the hinges should be on the north side/ramp side. Additionally, both the entrance and exit doors have some type of commercial hydraulic door closure mechanisms that should be replaced with new units. These units employ a mechanism that also allows these doors to be held open by the mechanism. These new units should be in a bronze or black finish.

Right to Reject Proposal/Take Further Action:
The Luther Library Board reserves the right to reject any and all proposals for any reason in its sole discretion. The Luther Library Board reserves the right to take other action before a contract is signed or a purchase order for materials is approved, even after the Board accepts or approves the proposal.
